Join Action for Healthy Kids for the 2022 National Conference on Child Health and Well-Being: Real Talk. Real Solutions!
This national conference is designed to strengthen district-school-family-community partnerships by mobilizing a community of individuals invested in child health and well-being to implement sustainable solutions to real world challenges.
Target audiences are district and school administrators, teachers, staff, parents, caregivers, state leaders, and community members and those who educate and influence them.
The three-day event will inspire and educate participants to use the following knowledge and skills in their communities:
- Maximize the roles of educators, parents/caregivers, and communities for family-school partnerships to advance whole child health and well-being.
- Implement sustainable policies and best practices for healthy eating, physical activity, and social-emotional health.
- Apply diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices to inform and advance health and educational equity.
- Identify solutions to real-world challenges for successful family-school partnerships and child health and well-being.

Action for Healthy Kids has reserved a block of hotel rooms at the conference’s location, Loews Chicago Hotel, at 455 N. Park Dr., Chicago, IL, for attendees in need of accommodations at a special rate.

Regardless of how reservations are made, in order for hotel to confirm a reservation, an advance deposit of one night’s room and tax, room and tax for the entire reservation, etc. must be provided. Deposits may be provided by wire transfer, check or credit card. Reservation deposits will be refunded be refunded if the reservation is cancelled by the guest no later than 72 hours prior to scheduled check in day and time.
Reservations cancelled after that will be subject to a cancellation fee of one night’s room and tax. Guest will also be required to pay one night’s room and tax if the guest departs one or more nights earlier than indicated on the reservation.
Cutoff for reservations is October 12, 2022.
Chicago, the largest city in the Midwest, lies in the heart of the U.S. that makes getting here a breeze, no matter how you like to travel. Once here, it’s easy and inexpensive to get around. The conference hotel, Loews Chicago Hotel, is right on the lake and river (entertainment district) and four blocks from a subway stop. AFHK and the Loews Chicago Hotel will strictly follow COVID-19 safety policies and procedures from the CDC, state of Illinois, and city of Chicago. These may include but are not limited to personal sanitization, face mask covering, social distancing, and health checks such as temperature and/or symptom screening.

Chicago is a wonderful city to visit in the fall. A whole world of amazing autumn activities, delicious foods, and gorgeous colors awaits. The Loews Hotel Chicago is within walking distance to Chicago sights, landmarks and activities like the Chicago Architecture River Tour, the Art Institute of Chicago, Cloud Gate (affectionately called The Bean) and more. Just don’t call the Sears Tower “Willis Tower”!
National School District Wellness Coalition Convening
The National School District Wellness Coalition is committed to ensuring students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged, and to drive a national education agenda that supports the Whole Child. Members of AFHK’s National School District Wellness Coalition are invited to a special pre-conference to network and share best practices, successes and challenges with other coalition members from 1-5pm on Tuesday, November 1 and 8am-12pm on Wednesday, November 2. At AFHK, we believe in connecting as a team and building relationships together to best support our communities.
