School Breakfast to School Wellness Partnership
During the 2010-2011 school year, Action for Healthy Kids and Kellogg’s Corporate Citizenship Fund are partnering with local school districts and/or school buildings (public, private, charter, religious) on a new strategy to promote school wellness in more than 90 schools nationwide by enhancing and expanding school breakfast programs. By increasing student participation in the “most important meal of the day,” schools can help prevent or reduce childhood obesity while seeing a positive impact on student attendance and learning, and classroom behavior.
Through this innovative partnership, Action for Healthy Kids will provide management, expertise, even manpower to make positive changes for kids, schools and communities. In addition, funding will be available to implement Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge in primary schools, and Students Taking Charge in secondary schools, to engage teachers, youth and families in helping schools become healthier places.
Share information about this partnership opportunity with schools in your state TODAY! Encourage them to take the first step by telling us more about their district through this survey, and to access the complete grant application. Applications must be submitted by Friday, September 3, 2010.
