Looking for Healthy School Heroes!

hero

Once again, Action for Healthy Kids will honor volunteers whose work and dedication have gone a long way toward improving the nutrition and physical activity of kids in school. Nominations are now being accepted!

“At Action for Healthy Kids we realize that, when it comes to working for the nutritional and physical well-being of kids in school, volunteers make all the difference. That’s why we’re so excited to honor the excellence within our volunteer ranks,” explains Sarah Titzer, director of Team Programs.

Special thanks to team members and partner organization representatives who have helped reinvigorate this recognition program. This year, five volunteers from around the country who’ve dedicated themselves to making schools healthier places for our kids and families will be honored for their commitment and service during our Get in the Action initiative, September 29th and 30th in Chicago. Award recipients will also be honored on the state and local levels.

Past award recipients have been wide ranging, from a school district food service director whose programs increased student milk consumption to a nutrition education consultant who created a nutrition and physical education curriculum for schools on Native American reservations. If you or anyone you know is similarly dedicated, we’d like to hear from you.

To be considered, candidates must be Action for Healthy Kids volunteers; have demonstrated outstanding contributions to the mission, vision and goals of the organization; and have shown commitment to combating the epidemic of undernourished and overweight children by working to make schools healthier places.
