Welcome to the Minnesota State Team 

Action for Healthy Kids is the nation's leading not for profit organization commmitted to reversing childhood obesity and ensuring all children are well nourished, phyically active, healthy and ready to learn. We partner with school, families, and the community to create a culture of health and wellbeing where the healthy choice is easy and valued. Our goal is to empower children and youth to be active every day, have access to and choose/consume healthy foods and as a result, reach their full potential for a long, healthy future.

Our State Team's objectives for 2014-15 are:

  • Engage and empower parents to support wellness at home, at school and in the community
  • Engage and equip school and community wellness champions to take action
  • Promote the health and learning link to school leaders to build policies that support these outcomes

Action for Healthy Kids School Grant Program

 Create Healthier School Environments with our School Grants for Healthy Kids

Action for Healthy Kids is welcoming schools to apply for 2014 -2015 School Grants for Healthy Kids. The grants will range from $1400 to $2500 and are designed to help schools create or expand school breakfast programs or pilot universal breakfast programs programs.

Next grant review is September 30, 2014. Portal will remain open until funds are exhausted.

Healthy Schools Conference 2014

The 2014 Healthy Schools Conference is designed for schools and community partners to take action to impact school health policies and practices that improve student outcomes and to learn effective and practical strategies for implementation. Learn about health factors impacting student outcomes, creating a healthy school climate, strategies for supporting healthy, active students in and out of school, the latest developments for the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act, prevention of bullying and much more.
