Welcome to the Minnesota State Team 

Action for Healthy Kids is the nation's leading not for profit organization and largest volunteer network to end childhood obesity and undernourishment. We partner with schools, families, and community partners to improve access to healthy food and physical activity for all children and youth. Our aim is to empower them to be active every day and choose healthy foods that enhance their ability to learn and succeed.

Our State Team's objectives for 2014-15 are:

Action for Healthy Kids School Grant Program

 Create Healthier School Environments with our School Grants for Healthy Kids

Action for Healthy Kids is welcoming schools to apply for 2014 -2015 School Grants for Healthy Kids. The grants will range from $1400 to $2500 and are designed to help schools create or expand school breakfast programs or pilot universal breakfast programs programs.

Next grant review is July 31, 2014. Portal will remain open until funds are exhausted.

Currently, through partners such as Kellogg's and the Wal-Mart Foundation, Action for Healthy Kids has awarded funds to schools in Minnesota to expand/create breakfast programs. Funds ranged from $1,000-$5,000.

Healthy Schools Conference 2014

Save the Date: Wednesday November 12, 2014 St Paul, MN

The 2014 Healthy Schools Conference is designed for schools and community partners to take action to impact school health policies and practices that improve student outcomes and to learn effective and practical strategies for implementation. Learn about health factors impacting student outcomes, creating a healthy school climate, strategies for supporting healthy, active students in and out of school, the latest developments for the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act, prevention of bullying and much more.
