Celebrate

Congratulations!
You did it!

You set the challenges, helped students experience the eat better and move more challenges, involved families and community members and encouraged kids and adults to set goals and track their progress.

Just as it was important to let everyone know what Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge was about at the beginning of the school year, it is also crucial to communicate the program’s successes throughout the year.  At the end of each challenge event and again at the end of the entire program year, host celebration events.  Celebrations give you the opportunity to reinforce the program’s core messages, recognize the achievements of students and adults, thank staff and volunteers who contributed to the challenge activities and take pride as a school and a community in what you accomplished.

Distribute recognition certificates and other incentives to students, faculty, staff, parents, community volunteers, local businesses – anyone who has participated in Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge. Don’t forget to send press releases highlighting the outcomes of Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge and acknowledging outstanding participants in and contributors to your program.

And perhaps best of all, celebrating gives you a chance to build excitement for the next challenge and the next year!

Tips to Help Celebrate Your Success!

  • Host a Challenge Course Event!
  • Describe the highlights of the challenge that has just ended.
  • If possible, list the number of students and adults who participated.
  • If appropriate, state the results of tasting surveys (or other student polls) and the number of students and adults who participated in special events (such as Kids Walk-to-School).
  • List the winners of the poster and/or morning announcement contest(s) (and if applicable, list the incentive offered in recognition).
  • Thank those who helped make the challenge period successful, especially outstanding community volunteers.
  • Thank community organizations that partnered with or otherwise supported the challenge period.
  • Thank local businesses that contributed food, equipment and/or incentives.
  • Where appropriate, include photographs of Game On! The Ultimate Wellness Challenge events and activities (such as taste tests and Move More activities).
