Northwestern Mutual

The Northwestern Mutual Foundation supports Action for Healthy Kids’ and our volunteer engagement program Get in the Action both nationally and locally. Beginning in January 2011, Northwestern Mutual has adopted eight schools in Denver, CO and Washington, DC to improve the schools’ nutrition and physical activities environment through volunteer initiatives. Leveraging the volunteer power of Northwestern Mutual’s financial representatives and AFHK staff and local volunteers, this project is working to impact the lives of approximately 3,200 students in the eight selected communities. In addition, volunteers engaged in the project will experience a connection to their community and contribute to the prevention of childhood obesity.
 
Northwestern Mutual is an organization that is focused on prevention and communicating the long term value of health, smart lifestyle choices and life insurance, similar to the goals of Get in the Action.  It will teach children to make decisions for the future and long term health, and instill wellness and healthy lifestyles as a priority.  Northwestern Mutual has a long history of giving back to their communities, and through their support of Action for Healthy Kids, has stayed true to their mission of building strong, vibrant communities that serve as a legacy to future generations.
