National Dairy Council

As a leader in child nutrition and education, the National Dairy Council provides sound nutrition information for school professionals, children and families. Like Action for Healthy Kids, the National Dairy Council believes that schools are an ideal place for kids to learn and practice good nutrition.

Our long-standing partnership with the National Dairy Council focuses on two primary goals:

1. strengthen Action for Healthy Kids teams’ capacity to work with schools to improve nutrition and opportunities for physical activity; and
2. provide national leadership and direction in support of the federal mandate that schools have local wellness policies.

Through multi-year grants, as well as the vital involvement of state and regional Dairy Council staff on Action for Healthy Kids’ state teams, the National Dairy Council has advanced our mission and our ability to achieve these goals. During the 2008-09 school year alone, Dairy Council support was pivotal in Action for Healthy Kids making a difference for nearly 4 million students and nearly 1,100 school districts nationwide.
