Entertainment Industry Foundation / glacéau smartwater®

Action for Healthy Kids has focused grant funding from the Entertainment Industry Foundation and glacéau smartwater on helping schools nationwide implement health and wellness practices that ambitiously promote physical activity, physical education, and hydration through the work of our 51 teams. The teams funded by this grant directed their projects at communities with the ability to integrate sustainable change and ultimately reached:

• 22 schools in 6 school districts;
• More than 11,000 students and nearly 8,100 parents and community members; and
• 53 partners and community organizations.
• Our teams and project coordinators provided 3,150 hours of expertise and consulting to these efforts.

Funding also supports national expansion of our student movement, Students Taking Charge. Students Taking Charge motivates, educates and empowers high school students to help improve nutrition and opportunities for physical activity in their school – and to help themselves and their peers learn to be healthier. The expansion includes a Web site for high school students (www.StudentsTakingCharge.org), revised curriculum and facilitator’s guide, and grants and coaching to schools in Los Angeles, New York, Washington, D.C, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Philadelphia and Seattle.
