The great work that you and your students do in ReCharge! has the longest impact if you reach out effectively and consistently to students' families. Doing so increases the likelihood that the positive lessons you're teaching about healthy eating and physical activity are reinforced at home, and it gives your students a "home field advantage" on the road to good health!

ReCharge! makes it easy to communicate with parents and other family members with the outreach materials you will find throughout the program. The following materials are all included in the kit and some are designed specifically to be sent home to parents and other family members.

Home Field Advantage Newsletters connect parents to the concepts in ReCharge! Four take-home newsletters focus on different program themes and provide information, tips, recipes and resources that parents will find helpful.

ReCharge! Field Day (Activity 29) is a culminating event that involves students, families and community, and provides an opportunity to celebrate and showcase students' achievements. Field Day can be structured in many ways depending on your setting and your students. Sample invitations and a planning document are provided to download to help you organize the event, and to give you ideas about whom to involve in the planning and execution.
